Survey report filters are a great way to analyze survey data. Using them, you can create a subset of results based on conditions that you specify. They’re a snap to set up, and can be enabled and disabled with the click of a button. By setting up a survey report filter, you can learn how a subset of your respondents answered your survey questions. They’re super helpful for understanding data by demographic.
For example, let’s say one question in your survey asks respondents to identify themselves by an age bracket:
Q.: What is your age?
- 18 – 30
You could then set up a survey report filter to create a subset of respondents based on each age category. For example, if you set up a filter for those respondents who said they were ages 18-30, you would then be able to see how this group of people answered every other question on your survey—which is great for gaining insight into your respondents’ thoughts. You can choose to set up a survey report filter based on any answer option to any question.
Here’s how easy it is to create a data filter. Login in to your Polldaddy dashboard. Click on the survey that you wish to create a filter for. Then, on the right hand side of the dashboard, click on “Data”:
Next, click on “Create a New Data Filter Now”:
Next, give your filter a name, then select the question and answer by which you would like to filter your data. Be sure to click on the blue, “Save” button to create your filter:
Next, you’ll see your filter all set. Click on enable, to filter your data:
You’ll be taken to your survey results, filtered by your new data filter. Here, we can see that when it comes to ACME Widget users, the newspaper ad was most effective:
To remove the data filter from your results, click on the small “x” in the right-hand corner of the yellow filter bar.
